Spring and summer breaks in
cottage "La Fontaine"

Spring comes early to this Béarn region in the form of light mornings and warm afternoons. There is no better time of the year to explore the Pyrenees as the snow begins to thaw and the flora and fauna of the mountains exhibit their extraordinary beauty.
The fishing season begins in mid-March so the mountain rivers called "Gaves" are alive with salmon and trout anglers.
The summer season is the ideal time to enjoy the possibilities the river Gave d'Oloron at only 150m distance from "La Fontaine" cottage offers: swimming, angling, rafting, canoeing, hydro-speed, freestyle or sunbathing on the pebbled river beaches. Of course cycling, hiking, horse riding and many other activities can be undertaken nearby.

Autumn and winter breaks in
cottage "La Fontaine":

Renowned for its Indian Summers the lower Béarn region in October is quite often still warm with temperatures in the mid twenties. From the end of November onwards you can start skiing at La Pierre St Martin or Gourette which are at an hour's drive from Sauveterre de Béarn. Both offer exceptional settings, a vast skiable area adapted to both novice and experienced skiers, a well kept freestyle space equipped with a sound system, entertaiment, half pipe, cross-country, snow run and snow-board area and it is a lot cheaper than its alpine counterparts. Iraty in the heart of the largest deciduous forest in western Europe combines natural beauty and serenity. In this majestic setting, cross-country skiers can admire the breath-taking scenery.

"La Fontaine" cottage equipped with "Godin" woodburners and central heating on wood offers you a cozy, comfortable place to celebrate Christmas. Why not enjoy a typical Béarn festive meal with Foie Gras and the local Jurançon wine. The local market and food shops all sell oysters, fresh seafood or "sanglier" (wild boar), "Canard Confit" (duck) and turkey. There are many quality restaurants that offer special celebrations for Christmas and/or New Year's Eve (St. Sylvestre) where you can dine on huge five or six course meals lasting all night against very reasonable prices.
